Old Photos

1. Berries in Snow | 2.20.11 @ 11.27am | Rexburg, Idaho | f 5.1 | 1/1000 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | no flash

For this picture, I brought out the contrast and added a little saturation. to be honest, with these "old" pictures, I don't remember much of what I did because I adjust until I like how it looks.

2. IBC Meets Rexburg Skyline | 2.13.11 @ 1.50pm | Rexburg, Idaho | f 5.6 | 1/399 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | no flash

I used posterize on this picture. I added a little contrast before that though to bring out the colors as much as I could. I cropped some of this image out because the original picture included more of my couch and less of the awesome way the light was flowing through the IBC bottle.

3. Freedom to Choose (Prison) | 2.20.11 @ 2.41am | Rexburg, Idaho | f 3.1 | 1/500 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | Flash

For "Freedom to Choose (Prison)," I started by making it black and white. I increased the contrast and removed some distracting elements on the left side. There were some annoying lights that I simply removed. I also did a little editing on the car area to make sure that it was what I wanted. I sharpened the image a little to get some more of the rough texture of the building.

4. Where Is Tumnus? | 2.20.11 @ 11.27am | Rexburg, Idaho | f 4.5 | 1/500 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | Flash

I increased the contrast to make the building and pole stand out from the snow even more. Then I lightened the picture a little as it was a bit dark, and I wanted the snow to be pristine against the man-made materials.

5. UNIQUE. | 2.20.11 @ 11.26am | Rexburg, Idaho | f 3.5 | 1/250 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | no flash

First, I boosted the contrast. I believe I used some posterization on the tube itself, but I do know that I boosted the saturation.

6. Beautiful Disgust | 2.20.11 @ 2.38am | Rexburg, Idaho | f 3.1 | 1/500 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | Flash

To begin with, I increased the brightness. The shot originally was dark, and you could barely see the tree. I added a little contrast to draw the tree out more from the dark and the snow.

7. Blind Shot | 2.13.11 @ 6.20pm | Rexburg, Idaho | f 5.6 | 1/640 sec | Kodak EasyShare M340 | no flash

I did not do much to "fix" this photo, I rather liked it as is. I cropped a little, and I believe that I adjusted the contrast a very little, but to be honest, I liked the way the light was coming in and did not want to mess it up by adjusting too much.

  2. Melissa, your past photos look great. I can tell that you have had some experience. My favorite is photo with the Snow building covered in snow. You did a great job at composing the photo with the light post. How long have you been taking photos for? I look forward to seeing more of your photos throughout the semester.
